What is covered?

Training is conducted in a classroom environment (6-8 people) via a data-projector. Training is 7-hours per day (14-hours total). This is the best option for beginners as we cover most functions including some of the more advanced commands as we work through tutorials & exercises. Any previous experience in 2D or 3D CAD is helpful, but not necessary as this class is tailored for beginners.

This course is designed to reduce the learning curve, and enable jewellers to use CAD software to quickly design in 3D, produce high-quality renderings, and create pieces which can be 3D printed and cast in precious metals.

Starting with an overview and an introduction to CrossGems, the class progresses with a project based approach. Students will work through at least 10 separate jewellery projects, each of which utilises a specific CrossGems workflow. We also discuss 3D printing with sample prints & castings to show you the quality possible. This is a full 2-day training course held on a Sat/Sun.

Do I have to buy any Software?

No. You can attend the "CrossGems Essentials Training" without purchasing any software. You can install a 30-day trial version of CrossGems & Rhino 8 software. The trial version is a full functioning, so you can use it for the training class, and then you have a few weeks to use the software & practice in your own time. We'll email you links to download the trial version a week or so before our training class.

Do I need a computer?

Yes. You will require your own laptop running Windows 10 or 11. Attendees should be comfortable in the Microsoft Windows Environment. Students with Apple notebooks will require Windows 10 installed via Boot Camp.
